I think that for many young teens of a certain dark bent and predilection around the age of 12-14, the Doors' music is a gateway of sorts. It opens up the dark highways and byways of rock n roll. From there it is a short step to Sabbath. Me, my brother, and our friend Hernan used to play Doors records till we had them memorized.
