CURTIS MAYFIELD. I first began my obsession with Curtis Mayfield's music about 12 years ago, and it has never let up. The man was a musical funk/soul genius, and that's no lie. he sang from the heart and from the mind. He was paralyzed on stage in a freak accident when a piece of lighting scaffolding crashed down upon him. He died a few years later.
