THE RAMONES. It all started with the Ramones. Do not let anyone tell you that punk music was started by Television, or Patti Smith or The Sex Pistols. Punk Music was begun by the RAMONES, NYC's own bastard children. They wanted to bring rock back from the brink of pompous, over-wrought, overly produced crap that was suffusing the airwaves at the time of their formation. They rightfully HATED this shit. They went back to Chuck Berry riffs, but they wanted to hear fast music so they played as fast as they could. Bow down you fucking peasants!
